about us

swimming is good for the soul...

My love for the water, and teaching, started early on. While swimming competitively in high school, I began teaching swim lessons in Michigan. I later went on to receive my bachelor's degree in Physical Education and my masters in Sport and Exercise Science, all while being a competitor and co-captain of the varsity swim and dive team. In 2012 and 2013, I was named the silver division Coach of the Year in the Macomb Area Conference. I went on the teach Physical and Health Education as well as becoming a learning specialist at WSU.

In 2019, I moved to the World Golf Village area with my family and started teaching neighborhood kids how to swim. As word got out about my lessons, I was asked if I could travel to surrounding neighborhoods to teach more lessons. Before I knew it, I had a packed schedule each week, with more demand knocking on my door. In 2022, I decided to transition my "side gig" into a full-time business and I found instructors with immense swim knowledge, clear but gentle teaching tactics, and of course, a love for swim!

And that's how Anchor Aquatics Swim School & Coaching was born.

As Anchor Aquatics SSC has grown, I've remained diligent in keeping that personal connection with each of our swim families while creating safe and fun environments for learning.

I believe each student should have the freedom and joy of swimming confidently.

Because when we have the knowledge to keep us safe, swimming becomes good for the soul.

our teaching approach

We, as humans, do not learn well in fear-based environments. Learning in stressful situations may teach you what to do in the moment, but there are negative consequences when teaching with fear.

The water can be a scary place if you don't know what you are doing, or how to keep yourself and other safe.

At Anchor Aquatics SSC, we believe the water should be a place of fun, exercise, and relaxation, but you must have a solid swim foundation to really enjoy all that the water offers.

That's why our approach is educational, fun, and always positive.

We infuse games into our lessons, all while teaching the swim basics. We rely on positive reinforcement, repetition, and an environment of trust with each student. It doesn't matter what age you start swimming, our goal remains the same: instill a love for swimming and leave our school swimming confidently.
